Collaborating About Risks to Safety

As a client, you have the right to confidentiality i.e., all information shared with me will be kept private unless explicit permission to share is given by the client. However, confidentiality may be breached in the following conditions:

In case of risk to safety, a support person/safety contact may be informed of the same. I would like the process to be collaborative and so I will most often tell you when I will be breaching confidentiality and would discuss what would feel most comfortable and supportive for you in the process of contacting your support person and creating safety, however in rare emergency situations it might be imperative to break confidentiality without prior consent.

In case, you have reached out to me for couples counselling, please note that the information shared by both you and your partner stays confidential and can be shared only if permission is granted by both partners or either partner.

If you choose to follow me on any social media platforms, please know that I cannot follow you back or engage with you online. If you choose to follow and comment on my public social media handle, please be aware of how this might impact your confidentiality.

During the counselling process, if I feel you need additional psychological or medical assistance, I will be required to refer the you to another professional, though this will be done only with your consent. If you choose not to go ahead with the additional support, please be aware that there might be limitations to how much I alone will be able to support you in the process.

Please note, I am unable to provide emergency services. In case of an emergency, please reach out to a helpline (e.g., Kiran: 1800-599-0019) or a hospital.
